After a year long speculation, Sanofi, manufacturer of extremely commended weight loss pill acomplia finally aired the key reason why they settled to promote the drug as Zimulti in the U.S. Presently, the spectacular diet pills are promoted and sold as acomplia in Europe and in other different zones of the world. Thus the company's decision to promote the drug as Zimulti only in the U.S eventually became a talk of the global town.

Now, after over a year constant speculation, Sanofi finally uttered a word on the issue and have an official explanation why diet drug rimonabant will not be sold as Acomplia in the U.S.

According to Hanspeter Spek, Sanofi's executive vice president for pharmaceutical operations, the FDA office, which handles and passes on suggested drug names, had some qualms over the usage of name Acomplia.

"As per the view of the FDA division, the name acomplia might be too expressive or could inculcate fallacy into user's minds as they would consider that Acomplia would acomplish their therapeutical targets," said Spek.

"So, we suggested other brand names and the FDA finally granted nod for Zimulti," Spek added.
