Weight Loss News Mexico Still without Wonder Drug Acomplia Acomplia has been approved for sale since Nov. 9th but it yet hasn't found its market in Mexico and Mexican pharmacies. A survey of some of Mexico's largest pharmacies on Jan. 16-17 turned up no sign of the highly anticipated diet drug, nor were pharmacies able to shed any light on when it may actually make it to their shelves. "We do not have the medicine available at this time, but please check back with us in the near future" seemed to be the slogan of the day when we asked pharmacists in several of Mexico's largest cities about Acomplia. Sanofi-Aventis, when it announced that the Mexican Ministry of Health had approved sale of the drug more than two months ago, said it expected to begin selling Acomplia in Mexico in January. But Sanofi has thus far not announced the launch of Acomplia in Mexico, and declined to provide any update on a launch date. The impending sale of Acomplia in Mexico is clearly of interest to a number of potential American customers, who have decided they want to take the diet pill even though the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is months away from action on approval of the drug for sale in the United States. If Acomplia is readily available in Mexican border towns which cater
to American buyers, there will be a vast increment in the number of U.S
purchasers as it is a known fact that Americans are spending a huge sum
to obtain Acomplia from Europe. | |
